Thankyou volunteers for all the help at the World of Wheels.
This also came from Rick Francescone:
Once again another World of Wheels has concluded. I wanted to thank all those groups that participated in our display. Especially all our children/young adults. I wanted to specially thank a few individuals for their help, whom with out, none of this would have been possible. I am the person usually getting all the credit and yet it is because of all the help I receive behind the scenes that allows us to pull off these events.
First off Joyce Brown from the World of Wheels whom allowed us to present our message and made a lot of concessions to help us out. Thanks so much Joyce.
Mel Loewen whom arranged all the banners, tent, and pretty much everything you saw, as well as our association with Cardel Homes. Mel I know at times you were pulling your hair out (and perhaps wanted to pull mine out) but I am eternally grateful for you perseverance. Thanks.
The CMRA and the CDRA for their donations of door prizes.
The clubs that kicked in money to help pay for things, (still waiting on some of you) and all those people that did the little things to help us get our message across, you know who you are.
The volunteers that manned the booth, thanks. This was the first Sunday night after the show that I still had a voice.
I think the concept was well received by those in attendance and the parents that I talked to understood the injustice that the motorsport community is being served.
Thanks so much for your support.
Rick

Website Update:
We are currently updating the CDRA website. There is a new main menu heading "Tech" for Technical articles, PDF Files, Application Notes, Data sheets, or links to tech on interesting websites, that may be useful to fellow racers. If you have information that we might share please send it along and we will get it up on the website. To send me E-Mail, go to the contacts page, click on 2010 Executive, and then select me (Ross Hay) from the list. Attach your file or link to your E-Mail and perhaps a quick note on how it has helped you.
The 2010 schedule will be posted shortly, one date is still in question.
Ross Hay Webmaster.

Message From the President
Calgary Drag Racing Association
Drag Racing has had solid roots in Calgary for many years. Some of the world’s best racers and most successful teams have called Calgary and Southern Alberta home. With Friday night’s Secret Street as popular as ever, and more cars being built and maintained for competition, it would be a shame if they could no longer participate locally. In the past year, Motorsport and Drag Racing enthusiasts have given City Hall notice that they will not go away quietly. Behind the scenes, negotiations and planning continues for next season and the next few years.
It is important that the CDRA and its members stay diligent and remain upbeat and enthusiastic about the future. For the 2010 season, it is likely that the CDRA will be required to put on a drag racing program at Race City. This requires participation of local enthusiasts and hopefully will attract some out of town supporters. There is a city election coming in the next year and since politicians pay close attention to numbers, membership is one way of showing them that there is keen interest in our sport. The cost of Membership in the CDRA will remain the same for the 2010 season. Becoming a member of the CDRA allows the participant to compete for yearend point championships. It also gives the member discounts at our local sponsor’s businesses. During planning for the upcoming season, other member benefits will be looked at such as reduced gate fees. The monthly general meetings are where the decisions will be made for the future of the CDRA and everyone is welcome to join in on the discussion. I look forward to seeing you there.
W.A. (Andy) Hockin
President
Calgary Drag Racing Association
